Applied Music - Voice Minor

Applied Music - Minor Requirements:

Minimum grade of C- required for all courses in the minor.

Core Courses:

Lessons will be 1/2 hour per week and may include a repertory class.

MUSC 153 - Private Study for Bachelor of Arts and Minors I Credit(s): 2
MUSC 154 - Private Study for Music Bachelor of Arts and Minors II Credit(s): 2
MUSC 175 - Class Piano: Elementary I Credit(s): 1
MUSC 253 - Private Study for Bachelor of Arts and Minors III Credit(s): 2
MUSC 254 - Private Study for Music Bachelor of Arts and Minors IV Credit(s): 2

Music Theory

Minimum grade of C- is required for all courses in the minor, with the exception of MUSC 101 and MUSC 105 , which require a mininum grade of B+.
Students may choose from one of the following two options to satisfy the music theory requirement:

Option 1:

MUSC 101 - Appreciation of Music Credit(s): 3
MUSC 105 - Fundamentals of Music I Credit(s): 3
or
MUSC 106 - Computational Thinking in Music Credit(s): 3

Option 2:

MUSC 185 - Aural Skills I Credit(s): 3
MUSC 195 - Music Theory I Credit(s): 3

Note:

Please note that minors who wish to enroll in MUSC 195 in the spring semester must first pass the Music Theory Placement Exam or pass MUSC 184 - Music Fundamentals: Theory and Fluency before enrolling. Please contact the music admissions office for more information.
Students who are not majoring in music or do not possess a strong background in music theory are encouraged to take MUSC 101 and MUSC 105 or MUSC 106 in place of the major-specific courses (MUSC 185 and MUSC 195 ).
