Concentration: Clinical Exercise Physiology
The concentration in Clinical Exercise Physiology provides students with the opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge of and hands-on experiences in preventive and rehabilitative practices for patients with cardiopulmonary, metabolic, and musculoskeletal diseases as well as apparently healthy and low risk populations. Clinicians will act as a part of a health care team that develops exercise recommendations, administers dignostic tests, and provides guidance that promotes healthy lifestyles. The concentration will also help students prepare for the American College of Sports Medicine’s (ACSM) clinical exercise physiology registry examination (RCEP) and/or the ACSM’s clinical exercise specialist certification, which focuses on cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation. This program offers core requirements that must be completed by all students. The Clinical Exercise Physiologist Specialization is designed to be a 12 month, non-thesis program.
