The Psychiatric Nursing specialization is not currently enrolling students. Please refer to the Family Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialty.
University Requirements
- ENGL 110 - Critical Reading and Writing (minimum grade C-) 3 credits
- First Year Experience 0-4 credits
- Discovery Learning Experience (DLE) 3 credits
- Multicultural Course 3 credits
- University Breadth Requirements 12 credits
- Creative Arts and Humanities 3 credits
- History and Cultural Change 3 credits
- Social and Behavioral Sciences 3 credits
- Math, Natural Sciences, and Technology 3 credits
Major Requirements
23 credits, to include a minimum of one course in each of the following five categories: (1) biology, (2) microbiology, (3) chemistry, (4) anatomy and physiology, and (5) nutrition
- English course (second English composition course) 3 credits
- Psychology course 3 credits
- Lifespan development course 3 credits
Core Courses for both the CNS and NP Specialties
Three or six credits from among the following:

In addition to the core, complete the courses noted within the specialty
Nurse Practioner Adult-Gerontology
Total Credits Required Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner: 144
After required courses are completed, sufficient elective credits must be taken to meet the minimum requirements
