GAME 201 - Introduction to Game Studies Credit(s): 3 INTRODUCTION TO GAME STUDIES Component: Lecture Examine the major genres of videogames produced around the world, and major critical approaches taken by academics to the study of those games. Issues for discussion may include the dominance of console platforms in some markets and PC gaming in others; ethics and violence in games; representations of gender and race; processes of immersion and identification in different game types; and the effect of increasingly realistic environments and cinematics.
