BINF 640 - Databases for Bioinformatics (3cr.) Credit(s): 3 DATABASES FOR BIOINFORMATICS Component: Lecture Introduces data modeling, database management, and web hosting of relational databases. Coupling lectures and a modular, semester-long term project, students will: (i) collect bioinformatics data and design a relational data model; (ii) implement a relational database and write SQL queries and stored procedures; and (iii) create a simple website to access backend database. Upon completion, students will have the basic database management concepts and skills to develop a relational database supporting real-world bioinformatics applications. Allowed Units: 3 Grading Basis: Student Option
