Delaware Hydrogen Training Program

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs

The hydrogen industry in the United States is experiencing unprecedented growth, fueled by the recent Department of Energy (DOE) H2 Hub announcements. This rapid expansion necessitates a well-prepared workforce across the hydrogen value chain, placing significant pressure on education and workforce development (WFD) leaders to establish targeted training programs. These programs must be flexible enough to train people entering the workforce for the first time while also being able to retrain individuals who wish to pursue a mid-career transition.

The Center for Clean Hydrogen (CCH) team identified a training need to upskill regional workers with basic hydrogen-focused electrochemical knowledge, skills, and concepts after having multiple conversations with Delaware organizations that are active in the hydrogen industry.  The CCH team requested and was subsequently awarded $97,500 by the Delaware Workforce Development Board (DWDB) to develop the Delaware Hydrogen Training Program to meet this industry need.

This noncredit professional certificate will provide training to workers in the hydrogen industry with no previous formal electrochemical training, but those that wish to develop a working knowledge of concepts and skills that are fundamental to hydrogen electrolyzers and fuel cells. The program will cover concepts including Electrochemical Fundamentals, Components, and Testing.  After taking Course 1, students can choose any of the remaining 6 courses depending on their needs. (i.e. fuel cells, laboratory techniques, electrolyzers, or membranes/catalysts).

This program is offered by CCH, in partnership with Professional & Continuing Studies (PCS)

*This is a non-credit certificate.
