Operations Management (BS)

Program Educational Goals

1. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of operations management concepts such as forecasting, inventory management, and project management.

2. Students will demonstrate an understanding of linear programming concepts and the usefulness of linear programming as a quantitative decision support method for operations management.

3. Students will demonstrate an understanding of how operations management concepts are applied in practical settings.

University Requirements:

ENGL 110 - First-Year Writing (C- minimum)
First Year Seminar (FYS) (0-4 credits)

Major Requirements:

Some of the University requirements may be met by the Major requirements. Students should consult with their advisor for clarification. All required courses for the major will have a grade minimum of C-. This includes all breadth classes and other required coursework (besides free elective courses).

Applicability of transfer coursework to Lerner majors: Coursework at the 300-level or higher may be transferred from AACSB-accredited institutions only unless credit is earned through an approved articulation agreement or approved study abroad program. Courses at the 100- and 200-level may be transferred from any institution following UD’s standard transfer credit policy.

Only one of the following courses may be transferred: BUAD 306, BUAD 346, BUAD 446, BUAD 447, BUAD 448, BUAD 449, MISY432, BUAD445.

Only two of the following courses may be transferred: ACCT 207, ACCT 208, ACCT 315, ACCT 352, BUAD 301, BUAD 309, ECON 101, ECON 103, FINC 311, MISY 160, MISY 261.

BUAD 441 must be completed at the University of Delaware.

Major Breadth Requirements:

Twelve credits of Creative Arts and Humanities, History and Cultural Change, or foreign language (ARAB, CHIN, FREN, GRMN, GREK, HEBR, ITAL, JAPN, KORE, LATN, PORT, RUSS, SPAN at the 100-level and above). Courses used to satisfy University requirement can be used to satisfy this requirement.
Six credits of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Courses used to satisfy University requirement can be used to satisfy this requirement. Required courses for the major that satisfy the social behavioral sciences requirement can not apply (ECON 101 , ECON 103 , BUAD 301 , BUAD 309 ).
Seven credits of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Technology (CISC, MATH, and STAT courses do not apply), with one associated laboratory credit. For reference, you can complete one of the following for the laboratory credit:

Electives:

After required courses are completed, sufficient credits must be taken to meet the minimum credits required for the degree and no more than two credits can be from HBNS 120 . Only one of ACCT 302 or MISY 261 may be used toward minimum total credits in this major
