Chamber Music (MCM)

Goal 1 Chamber Music Performance: A graduate of this program will be able to collaborate and perform with other chamber musicians at a high professional level.  

Outcomes: 

1.1 The student will develop and demonstrate advanced performance skills on their primary instrument. 

1.2 The student will collaborate and perform diverse repertoires with other chamber musicians. 

1.3 The student will apply critical and creative thinking while making stylistic choices and informing artistic expression in chamber music ensembles.

1.4 The student will demonstrate proficiency in creating and extending chamber music repertoire through improvisation, arrangement, and orchestration. 

 

Goal 2 Entrepreneurship: A graduate of this program will be able to demonstrate the skills integral to building and maintaining a music career in the 21st Century

Outcomes: 

2.1 The student will demonstrate skills in multimedia performance production.

2.2 The student will demonstrate a specialized skill set in audio engineering and design, including recording, editing, and composing. 

2.3 The student will demonstrate an advanced skill set in marketing techniques, including graphic design, website design, social media, and effective written and spoken communication

 

Goal 3 Advanced Musicianship: A graduate of this program will synthesize theoretical, historical, and socio-cultural ways of understanding music to inform chamber music-making.

Outcomes:

3.1 Students will present performances that are informed by theoretical, historical, and socio-cultural awareness.

3.2 Students will present their artistry to a global audience by coupling the understanding of socio-cultural artistic interests with an online presence.

 

Goal 4 Community Engagement: A graduate of this program will embrace intellectual, artistic, ethnic, and cultural diversity by establishing and participating in cultural communities/partnerships.

Outcomes: 

4.1 Students will investigate creative solutions for performance and community interaction while considering the role of art and the artist.

4.2 The student will create, design, and implement arts-related projects to promote change and community engagement.

4.3 Students will engage with diverse communities in a thoughtful, culturally aware, and socially responsive manner.

Requirements for the Master of Chamber Music Degree


Students are required to complete 38 credit hours (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of B or better) to be granted the degree of Master of Chamber Music.

Capstone Project:


During their second year, students will complete a two-semester capstone project (4 credits).
