Program Requirements:
The 4+1 MS in Marine Studies with a Concentration in Oceanography program allows students the ability to earn the Bachelor of Science in Marine Science and Masters of Science in Marine Studies with a Concentration in Oceanography in a total of five years of full-time study. All requirements for both degree programs must be satisfied. The total credits required for the 4+1 degree are 30 credits. See program pages for each degree for a full list of requirements.
Students apply and are admitted to the 4+1 program as juniors (before they graduate) but cannot remain in the program unless they earn a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science. Students should consult with their advisor early in the program to ensure they choose appropriate coursework. A maximum of 9 credits of graduate course work (600 level and above) taken while an undergraduate, may be “dual- counted” toward the Bachelor’s and the Master’s degrees.
