Psychological and Brain Sciences - Cognitive Psychology Concentration (MS)


Requirements for the Degree:


Requirements:


The minimum number of credits required for the Master of Science (MS) Degree in Psychological and Brain Sciences (PBS) is 24 credit hours, plus 6 hours of thesis, and the specific concentration requirements. The MS in PBS is not a terminal degree and is obtained either on the way to the Ph.D. or a student terminates the doctoral program early and leaves with a MS degree in a concentration.

Professional Development:


Three credits.

Research:


Research can be enrolled in a maximum of 6 credits in a semester for a total of 12 credits.

Department Colloquia:


Departmental colloquia each semester, for 1 credit, 3 credits minimum.

Thesis:


Six credit hours.

Master’s based on first- and/or second-year research - This requires a successful thesis defense to the student’s Advisory Committee who must approve the final document prior to the student submitting the document to the Graduate College. The Thesis is also evaluated by the Department Chair and the Dean of Arts and Sciences. Awarding the Master’s Degree is also subject to all other Departmental and University requirements. Passage of the Qualifying Exam is not a requirement for the Master’s Degree.
