Program Educational Goals:
- Demonstrate mastery in the core areas of economics: microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics.
- Demonstrate mastery in at least one field of specialization.
- Produce and defend original and significant contributions to economic knowledge.
- Be able to present scholarly research clearly and concisely.

Requirements for the Degree:
Students in the Ph.D. program in Economics complete 53 credits of coursework in Economics as outlined below. Core Courses:
29 credits of required course work as listed below. Additional Econometrics Course
3 credits: Students are required to take an additional ecoometrics course, which can be one of the following. The other can be used as an economics field course or elective. The econometric course requirement cannot also be used as a program elective. Economics Field Courses:
15 credits: Students are required to take at least 5 of the following economics field courses: Electives:
6 credits: These electives can be satisfied with additional economics field courses and/or outside of the department electives. Non-econonics department electives must be approved by the Graduate Committee. Credits to Total a Minimum of 53
