Program Requirements:
The Department of Animal and Food Sciences offers a combined 4+1 Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Science (MS) in Animal Science program that allows students to complete both degrees in a total of five years of full-time study. Students must be at least in their junior year of study and have completed at least 60 credits to apply for the 4+1 BS/MS program. Students must select the non-thesis option for the MS portion of the degree, and they may select a concentration in either Veterinary Biosciences, Biotechnology and One Health (VBBOH) or Business, Entrepreneurship and Leadership (BELC). Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis by the department’s graduate committee. This program is limited to current undergraduates in the Pre-Veterinary Medicine major that have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 at the time of application. Students that do not meet this GPA criteria may still be considered upon recommendation of their advisor. Up to seven credits of graduate coursework (600 level and above) may be applied toward satisfying the requirements of both degrees. It is recommended that three of these credits be ANFS 675.
