Notes:

College of Engineering senior design and other design-oriented courses may be considered as substitutes for the technology innovation practicum if and only if a student’s specific project had/has a significant and meaningful entrepreneurship component. This is defined as including the development of a novel business model and the conduct of extensive customer discovery research that directly engages prospective customers to yield evidence-based insights. Students seeking approval for a course substitute will be required to submit a request in writing to the certificate’s faculty director. The request should indicate the course being proposed as a substitute and address how course activities/project(s) can be expected to satisfy the “significant and meaningful entrepreneurship component” criterion noted above.

College of Engineering students can typically complete the certificate without adding time to their degree by choosing ENTR 350  as their “social & behavior sciences” breadth elective and selecting ENTR-designated course options for requirement #2 and #3, as these courses can be used as “Career and Professional Preparation courses” under CoE’s additional breadth requirements.
