Operations Management (BS)

Program Educational Goals


1. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of operations management concepts such as forecasting, inventory management, and project management.

2. Students will demonstrate an understanding of linear programming concepts and the usefulness of linear programming as a quantitative decision support method for operations management.

3. Students will demonstrate an understanding of how operations management concepts are applied in practical settings.

University Requirements:


Major Requirements:


Some of the University requirements may be met by the Major requirements. Students should consult with their advisor for clarification. All required courses for the major will have a grade minimum of C-. This includes all breadth classes and other required coursework (besides free elective courses).  Note: Of the required upper division Operations Management courses (BUAD 306 , BUAD 346 , BUAD 446 , BUAD 447 , BUAD 448 , and BUAD 449 ), no more than one may be transferred from another AACSB institution.

Major Breadth Requirements:


Business Core:


Minimum grade C- required in all.

Operations Management Core:


Minimum grade of C-.

Professional Electives:


  • Four ACCT, BUAD, ECON, ENTR, FINC, MISY or SPTM course (at the 300-level or higher) (twelve credits). C- required.  Cross-listed courses may apply
    • One ECON course at the 300-level or higher and/or one ENTR course may be applied to the Professional Electives. If ECON is used as a Professional Elective, an ECON may NOT be used as an International course.
    • ACCT 302 , ACCT 350  and ACCT 351  do not count toward professional elective requirements.
    • Courses used to satisfy other major requirements may not satisfy this Professional Elective requirement.

Electives:


After required courses are completed, sufficient credits must be taken to meet the minimum credits required for the degree and no more than two credits can be from HBNS 120 .  Only one of ACCT 302  or MISY 261  may be used toward minimum total credits in this major
