Secure Software Certificate

Admission Requirements:


This Graduate Certificate has the following admission requirements:

  • Applicants must hold the certificate on the Foundations of Cybersecurity  from the University of Delaware.  
  • Applicants who already have a different cybersecurity concentration certificate from the University of Delaware may reapply to pursue the Secure Software concentration certificate. 
  • Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 system.
  • Applicants must have undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related disciplines. Applicants with degrees in other disciplines may be admitted depending on their experience in the relevant disciplines.
  • Applicants must have programming experience in a high-level language (e.g. C, C++, java, python) and familiarity with basic networking protocols and operating systems.
  • International applicants must demonstrate a satisfactory level of proficiency in the English language if English is not their first language. The University requires an official TOEFL score of at least 550 on paper-based or 79 on Internet-based tests. TOEFL scores more than two years old cannot be considered official. Alternatively, IELTS can be accepted in the place of the TOEFL. The minimum IELTS score is 6.5 overall with no individual sub-score below 6.0.

Program Requirements:


The Certificate in Secure Software requires satisfactory completion of three (3) graduate level courses (9 credits) as detailed below. Each certificate program course must be completed with a grade no lower than a B-; the overall GPA across the three (3) graduate courses in the selected concentration must be no lower than 3.0. Any particular course can only be applied to a single certificate.
