MSME Core Requirements:
12 credits
Choose three of the following:
MSME Restricted Electives:
9 credits total; thesis or non-thesis options, plus additional restricted electives. Core requirement elective list and restricted elective list are the same.
- Thesis Option
- 6 credits of MEEG 869 - Master’s Thesis are required.
- 3 credits of any course listed below, excluding those used to fulfill the core requirement.
- Non-Thesis Option
- 6 credits of MEEG 868 - Research or MEEG 666: Independent Study may be taken. Remaining credits can be taken from core requirements list, excluding those used to fulfill the core requirement.
- Otherwise, all 9 credits must be taken from the list below, excluding those used to fulfill the core requirement.

Graduate Level Restricted Electives:
Three additional graduate level courses (9 credits) in engineering, mathematics, science, or another field related to the student’s academic concentration. Courses must be selected with the documented approval of the department’s Graduate Committee.
