MS in Economics and Applied Econometrics 

Program Overview

Econometrics uses economic theory, mathematics, and statisfical inference to quantify economic phenomena. In other words, this program turns theoreitcal economic models into useful tools for economy policymaking. Whether you intend to work in private industry, government or academia, in the United States or abroad, this program provides a balance of diverse applied courses and core microeconomic, macroeconomic and econometric theory. This degree is ideal for students who have majored in economics as undergraduates and who seek more specialized training in applied econometrics and economic theory. The MS in Economics and Applied Econometrics also offers excellent preparation for students considering further work in a PhD program either at the University of Delaware or elsewhere.This is a STEM-designated degree, allowing for an additional 24-months of OPT. MA in Economics and Entrepreneurship for Educators

Program Overview

The MA in Economics and Entrepeneurship for Educators (MAEEE) is run through Lerner College’s Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship (CEEE). The goal of this program is to provide teachers with additional skills they need to inspire students to become effective participants in the economy, successful entrepreneurs, responsible consumers, and wise investors. It is designed for educators who have demonstrated leadership potential and who want to put what they are learning in the program to immediate use in their own classroom and greater educational communities. At the program’s core are two on-campus, four-week summer sessions. See MAEEE program page for aditional information.

Admission Requirements

The MAEEE program admits a cohort every two years (in odd years). The program is open to educators who: (1) meet requirements stated in the Graduate Admissions section of the University of Delaware (official transcripts of all undergraduate work are required), (2) have completed a minimum of three semester hours in economics, (3) hold a current teaching certificate and have a minimum of three years of experience, and (4) are nominated by the Council or Center Director for Economic Education in their geographic region.The application deadline is February 1 of those odd years. PhD in Economics

Program Overview

The curricula provide students with a balance between a core of microeconomic, macroeconomic, and econometric theory and a wide variety of applied courses. Fields of specialization include development economics, industrial organization, labor economics, behavioral economics, and household finance. These programs are designed to prepare individuals for professional careers involving the application of economic analysis in both the public and private sectors, including academia. Admission Requirements

Prospective students should consult the Graduate Admissions for admission procedures. The date for application submission is July 1 for Fall admission. Students seeking financial aid should complete their applications by January 15th. Admission to graduate programs in the Department of Economics is selective and competitive based on the number of well-qualified applicants and available capacity. Those who meet stated minimum academic requirements are not guaranteed admission; nor are those who fail to meet those requirements necessarily precluded from admission if they offer other appropriate strengths.
