SOCIETY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Component: Lecture
A substantive and theoretical introduction to environmental sociology. The class focuses on the way that sociologists have attempted to study the relationship between the “natural world” and the “human world,” and even why those distinctions exist. Topics include the nature-society dichotomy, environmental inequality, climate change, and environmental gentrification. In all, students learn how environmental issues are related to and products of social structure, global capitalism, and policies that address current environmental problems for future generations.
