This Latin American literature survey (1492-1898) explores a dynamic range of written expression, including Indigenous traditions, Conquest chronicles, narratives by enslaved Africans, and articulations of national identities after Independence. Through the exploration of artistic movements and social, historical, and literary texts, students will gain insights into the multifaceted heritage of Latin America.
