MUSC 211 - Music, History, and Ideas Credit(s): 3 MUSIC, HISTORY, AND IDEAS Component: Discussion Examines materials, methods and interdisciplinary approaches used in the study of music through the discussion and analysis of a broad repertoire of works that spans historical eras, styles, and global cultures. Historical concepts such as historiography, performance practices, written versus oral traditions, notions of authorship, etc. are introduced. Typically taken sophomore fall.
