UAPP 709 - Advanced Topics in Economics for the Public and Non-Profit SectorsCredit(s): 3 ADVANCED PUBLIC ECONOMICS Component: Lecture Building on the base of knowledge acquired in UAPP 693 or similiar coursework, students will learn about how economic activity is measured, how the national economy is managed, and how public goods and services are financed at different levels of government. In addition, a variety of real world examples will be used to explore how public policy can be used to enhance the functioning of private markets, the promotion of economic growth, and the minimization of negative externalities, such as pollution and economic inequality.
