Algebra and analysis of Cartesian Tensors. Descriptions of motion, kinematics. Conservation equations. Constitutive theory, Newton-Stokes fluids. Irrotational flow of an inviscid fluid. Dimensional analysis. Some exact solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations. Asymptotic flows: creeping flow, flow in the boundary layer. Introduction to turbulent flow. One dimensional compressible flow.
