PHYS 419 - Classical Mechanics I Credit(s): 3 CLASSICAL MECHANICS I Component: Lecture Emphasizes fundamental principles of classical mechanics. Treats in detail and with mathematical rigor Newton’s Laws, projectile motion with drag, conservation laws, oscillations, calculus of variation, Lagrange’s equations and their application, central force problems, rotational motion of rigid bodies, and coupled oscillations and normal modes.
