CIEG 333 - Thermodynamics for Environmental Engineering (3cr.)Credit(s): 3 THERMODYNAMICS FOR ENVIRO ENG Component: Lecture Basic thermodynamic laws and concepts and illustration of how they are applicable to environmental engineering problems and processes. A review of the principle of mass and energy conservation, covered in CIEG 233. The first and second laws of thermodynamics and the concepts of enthalpy, entropy, and free energy. Exploration of the thermodynamics of multi-component systems and discussion of equilibrium partitioning and reactions that govern the behaviors of pollutants in environmental compartments.
