Teaching Students with Disabilities Certificate

Certificate Requirements

The graduate Certificate in Teaching Students with Disabilities is a 15-credit program. Each certificate course must be completed with a grade no lower than a C. The overall grade point average of the  Certificate candidate must be no lower than 3.0 for the Certificate to be awarded.

Candidates must choose one of two options: K-12 or Autism/Severe Disabilities.

K-12 Option

Candidates must complete the following courses.

• All of the following courses (9 credits).

• EDUC 680 - Educational Evaluation: Exceptional Children & Youth Credit(s): 3
• EDUC 681 - Techniques for Behavior Change and Positive Behavior Support Credit(s): 3
• EDUC 757 - Diagnosis & Instruction In Literacy Credit(s): 3

Autism/Severe Disabilities Option

Candidates must complete all of the following courses (15 credits).

• EDUC 624 - Introduction to Autism and Severe Disabilities Credit(s): 3
• EDUC 625 - Special Education Instruction/Curriculum: Autism/Severe Credit(s): 3
• EDUC 626 - Functional Communication for Individuals with Autism and Severe Disabilities Credit(s): 3
• EDUC 681 - Techniques for Behavior Change and Positive Behavior Support Credit(s): 3
• EDUC 729 - Behaviorally Based Teaching Practicum Credit(s): 3

Credits to Total a Minimum of 15
