Interdisciplinary-Collegiate Honors


Interdisciplinary learning

Honors students will be able to integrate knowledge from diverse perspectives, disciplines, and skill sets, both theoretical and applied, into problem-solving strategies and a deep awareness of the complexity of culture and science.

 

Academic excellence

Honors students will pursue academic excellence both in and out of the classroom, delving deeply into a subject through rigorous course work in the major and undertaking a broad program of study that emphasizes strong course work from multiple disciplines.

 

Research, creativity, and scholarship development

Honors students will understand the research process by engaging in experiences ranging from scholarly endeavors and creative work to research projects with researchers across campus and in the global community.

 

Leadership development

Honors students will build on their educational experiences and co-curricular activities to cultivate leadership skills and competencies.

 

Service engagement

Honors students will pursue service-oriented activities that are beneficial to the community and that contribute to the students’ own learning and development.

Course of Study Requirements:


The Interdisciplinary-Collegiate Honors Course of Study of the Honors Program is an alternative program of study to those that lead to the Honors Degree with specific majors. The Interdisciplinary-Collegiate Honors Course of Study, completed in addition to the non-Honors degree requirements for a UD major, leads to that degree with the additional award of University Honors. 

The completion requirements for a Interdisciplinary-Collegiate Honors Course of Study are as follows:

1.) The requirements for the baccalaureate degree in a major, including all University and college requirements, and any specific requirements the major department may set.

2.) A UD grade point average of no less than 3.4 at the time of graduation.

3.) Minimum 26 earned honors credits with at least 12 honors credits at the 300-level or above.

Six credits of honors coursework specifically required for the student’s major.

Honors Electives


Complete additional honors coursework to reach a minimum of 26 honors credits with a maximum of 6 credits of UNIV 362  designated as honors.
