Sports Health (BS)


Program Educational Goals


  1. Compare and contrast different healthcare professions and their roles/responsibilities as they relate to interprofessional cooperation and teamwork.
  2. Demonstrate core knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, including the structure and function of major body systems.
  3. Apply concepts from functional anatomy and biomechanics to the evaluation and treatment of sport-related injuries.
  4. Apply an understanding of physiological processes to the recognition, treatment, and prevention of sports-related conditions.
  5. Use information derived from the evaluation process to solve problems presented as case studies and patient scenarios.
  6. Implement the clinical evaluation process as it relates to sports health care. Clinical skills will include palpation and clinical assessment tests.
  7. Discover the area of injury prevention of athletic injuries, including taping and bracing skills.

Major Requirements:


Minimum grade C- in all requirements.

Restricted Electives:


Students will choose from the list of courses below during the senior year in order to fulfill the major requirements for the BS degree in Sports Health. A minimum of 9 credits must be taken.
 

Electives:


After required courses are completed, sufficient elective credits must be taken to meet the minimum credit requirement for the degree.
