Goal 1:
Performance Skills. By graduation, students will be able to perform at the professional level, demonstrating technical precision and expressive artistry
Outcomes:
1.1 Students will develop and demonstrate advanced performance skills on the piano.
1.2 Students will demonstrate the flexibility required to perform across various musical settings as a soloist and collaborative pianist.
1.3 Students will apply critical and creative thinking while making stylistic choices and informing artistic expression.
1.4 Students will collaborate and perform diverse repertoires as soloists and collaborators.
Goal 2:
Specialization. By graduation, students will develop an area of specialization within the musical disciplines.
Outcomes:
2.1 Students will demonstrate expertise in an area of specialization through performance, scholarship, and/or other creative activities.
Goal 3:
Career Management. By graduation, students will develop non-performance skills that are integral for establishing and maintaining a career in music.
Outcomes:
3.1 Students will be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences using written and oral communication.
3.2 Students will understand how to source funding for artistic projects through grant writing and fundraising.
Goal 4:
Pedagogy. By graduation, students will acquire the pedagogical knowledge necessary to successfully teach piano to students with varied experience levels.
Outcomes:
4.1 Students will demonstrate knowledge of pedagogical philosophies for teaching technical skills specific to the piano.
4.2 Students will have a deep understanding of the pedagogical and performance repertoire written for piano.
4.3 Students will demonstrate the skills necessary for building and maintaining a private teaching studio.
