Operations Management (BS)


Program Educational Goals


1. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of operations management concepts such as forecasting, inventory management, and project management.

2. Students will demonstrate an understanding of linear programming concepts and the usefulness of linear programming as a quantitative decision support method for operations management.

3. Students will demonstrate an understanding of how operations management concepts are applied in practical settings.

University Requirements:


Major Requirements:


Some of the University requirements may be met by the Major requirements. Students should consult with their advisor for clarification. All required courses for the major will have a grade minimum of C-. This includes all breadth classes and other required coursework (besides free elective courses).

Additional Breadth Requirements:


  • •Six credits of Creative Arts and Humanities, History and Cultural Change, or foreign language (ARAB, CHIN, FREN, GRMN, GREK, HEBR, ITAL, JAPN, KORE, LATN, PORT, RUSS, SPAN at the 100-level and above).

    •Twelve credits (includes PSYC 100) of Social and Behavioral Sciences (one SOCI course required), no more than six credits may be taken in the same subject area (cross-listed courses included). 
    •Seven credits of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Technology (CISC, MATH, and STAT courses do not apply), with one associated laboratory credit. For reference, you can complete one of the following for the laboratory credit: ARTC 210; BISC 104, 113, 115, 116, 117, 127, 207, 208; CHEM 131, 132, 133, 134; ENWC 215; GEOG 111, 152, 221; GEOL 107, 110, 113, 115; PHYS 133, 221, 222, 227, 228; PLSC 212, 214; SCEN 101, 102, 105, 107, 109, 111, 115, 117, 119.

Professional Electives:


  • Two ACCT, BUAD, ECON, ENTR, FINC, MISY or SPTM course (at the 300-level or higher) (six credits). C- required.
    • One ECON course at the 200-level or higher and/or one ENTR course may be applied to the Professional Electives. If ECON is used as a Professional Elective, an ECON may NOT be used as an International course.
    • ACCT, BUAD, ECON, ENTR, FINC or MISY electives are 300-level or higher courses offered through the departments of Accounting & MIS, Business Administration, Economics and Finance. ACCT 302 , ACCT 351  and ACCT 351  do not count toward degree for majors.
    • Only one of ACCT 302  or MISY 261  may be used for graduation.

Electives:


After required courses are completed, sufficient credits must be taken to meet the minimum credits required for the degree and no more than two credits can be from BHAN 120 .
