Program Educational Goals
Students who complete the Management (BS) program will be prepared to lead within organizations, solving practical management problems using the most advanced tools and ideas.
Knowledge Base in Management: Students will demonstrate a basic knowledge of management-related theory and research by being able to recall, name, and describe common concepts in the following general domains:
- organizational behavior
- negotiations and conflict resolution
- strategic management.
Critical Thinking and Adaptive Decision-Making Skills: Students will be able to recognize, critically analyze, and evaluate options related to current and future management situations, including managing change by:
- Applying management-related concepts and theories to personal and work experiences.
- Analyzing and recommending solutions to common challenges using management-related concepts and theories as justification.
- Evaluating other recommendations and analyses that address management-related challenges.
- Assessing current and future workplace and industry trends.
Management Competencies: Students will demonstrate collaborative, communication and presentation competencies necessary for managers, including:
- Interpersonal skills such as conflict management, negotiation, and acting as a mentor and mentee.
- Teamwork skills such as leadership, followership, coordination, and communication.
- Presentation skills such as collecting data, citing appropriate research, and presenting information in a clear, organized, succinct, and professional manner for experienced and lay audiences in oral, visual, and written mediums.

Major Requirements:
Some of the University requirements may be met by the Major Requirements. Students should consult with their advisor. All required courses for the major will have a grade minimum of C-. This includes all breadth classes and other required coursework (besides free elective courses). Additional Breadth Requirements:
C- required for all courses in additional breadth requirements.
- Six credits of Creative Arts and Humanities, History and Cultural Change, or foreign language (ARAB, CHIN, FREN, GRMN, GREK, HEBR, ITAL, JAPN, KORE, LATN, PORT, RUSS, SPAN at the 100-level and above).
- Twelve credits (includes PSYC 100) of Social and Behavioral Sciences (one SOCI course required), no more than six credits may be taken in the same subject area (cross-listed courses included).
- PSYC 100 - General Psychology Credit(s): 3
- Seven credits of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Technology (CISC, MATH, and STAT courses do not apply), with one associated laboratory credit. For reference, you can complete one of the following for the laboratory credit:

- One ECON course at the 200-level or higher and/or one ENTR course may be applied to the Professional Electives. If ECON is used as a Professional Elective, an ECON may NOT be used as an International course.
- ACCT, BUAD, ECON, ENTR, FINC or MISY electives are 300-level or higher courses offered through the departments of Accounting & MIS, Business Administration, Economics and Finance. ACCT 302 , ACCT 351 and ACCT 351 do not count toward degree for majors.
