Fashion and Apparel Studies (MS)

Program Educational Goals:

Assess and evaluate the efforts of the fashion industry and consumers toward human rights, labor standards, and environmental stewardship.
Apply creative problem-solving techniques to develop sustainable solutions to global contemporary issues challenging the fashion industry and consumers.
Integrate information from design and/or consumer behavior to address fashion industry challenges.
Design, conduct and present original research relevant to the fashion industry.

Requirements for the Degree (with thesis)

The master’s program with thesis requires a minimum of 31 hours of graduate coursework, including 6 hours of thesis, 6 semester hours of research methods and statistics, 13 required hours of departmental courses, and 6 elective hours of additional focus area courses in the department.

Master’s students following the thesis option are required to take the following courses:

Requirements for the Degree (professional project option)

The master’s program with a professional project option requires a minimum of 31 hours of graduate coursework, including 13 hours of departmental courses, 3 semester hours of research methods, 12 credit hours of special interest electives, and a 3-credit independent study to complete the professional project.
