Africana Studies - Law, Public Policy and Social Justice Concentration/Public Policy 4+1 (BA/MPP)

Program Requirements:


The Biden School offers a combined 4+1 Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Africana Studies and Master of Public Policy (MPP) program that allows students to complete both the BA and the MPP in a total of five years of full-time study. The program is open to Africana Studies students in the Law, Public Policy and Social Justice concentration only. All requirements of both degree programs must be satisfied and up to 15 credits of graduate coursework may be dual counted to satisfy requirements of both the BA degree and the MPP degree.

Students may apply to the 4+1 BA/MPP program after completing 60 credits in the undergraduate degree, which is typically the fall of their junior year. Student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 and must be enrolled in, or have completed, the introductory course sequence of UAPP 110 , UAPP 225 , and UAPP 325  by the time they apply to the program. Africana Studies majors must additionally declare the Public Policy Minor  as a condition of admission.
