Accounting (BS)

Program Educational Goals:


The key learning goals are:

  • Students should be able to understand proper classification and recording of transactions consistent with the conceptual framework of GAAP.
  • Students should be able to properly apply the accrual method of accounting.
  • Students will have a comprehensive understanding of the preparation and attestation of financial statements.
  • Students should be able to understand codes of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Students should be able to understand and analyze information for internal decision-making.
  • Students should show proficiency in data analytics, using power BI, Tableau and other programming tools.

University Requirements:


Major Requirements:


Minimum grade C- required in all Major Requirements except ACCT 350 ACCT 351  and ECON 308 .

Additional Breadth Requirements:


  • Additional six credits from Creative Arts and Humanities, and/or History and Cultural Change, and/or foreign language courses.
  • Additional three credits from Social & Behavioral Sciences (excluding ECON 101 , ECON 103 BUAD 301  and BUAD 309 ).
  • Additional six credits from Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Technology (except CISC, STAT, 100-level MATH courses, MATH 221 , MATH 231 MATH 232 , and MATH 241 ).

Professional Electives:


  • Six credits of 300-level or higher ACCT, FINC or MISY courses.

Electives:


In addition to required courses, sufficient credits must be taken to meet the minimum credits required for the degree. No more than two credits of BHAN 120  may apply.
