Music - Teaching Concentration (MM)

Requirements for the Master’s Degree


V. Teaching Concentration Courses:


Students are required to complete 32 credit hours (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of B or better) to be granted the degree Master of Music: Teaching. All students take the following:

Thesis or Project (8 cr.):


Students can elect to write a thesis or pursue a project in which they develop and implement a teaching portfolio. The courses for each are as follows:

Thesis

  • Credit(s): 1-6
  • Note: Although MUSC869 is a variable 1-6 cr. course, it must be taken for 6 cr. total, to satisfy degree requirement

OR

Ensemble Performance (3 cr.)


Elective Courses (3 cr.):


All elective courses must be approved by the Music Education Advisor. The courses must be graduate-level courses, and they may be taken in music or in other departments.
