Music Minor - Applied Music-Principal Instrument

Applied Music:


Minimum grade of C- required for all courses in the minor. Lessons will be 1/2 hour per week and may include a repertory class.

Ensemble:


Four credits of ensemble participation on student’s primary instrument.

  • Ensemble and private study must be taken concurrently (see Ensemble Policy in the Department of Music Student Handbook).
  • Music Minors with principal instrument of piano, organ, or guitar must refer to the Department for required ensembles.

Music Theory/History/Literature:


Minimum grade of C- is required for all courses in the minor, with the exception of MUSC101 and MUSC105, which require a mininum grade of B+.

Note:


  • Please note that minors who wish to enroll in MUSC195 in the spring semester must first pass the Music Theory Placement Exam or pass MUSC184 (Fundamentals of Music Review) before enrolling. Please contact the music admissions office for more information.
  • Students who are not majoring in music or do not possess a strong background in music theory are encouraged to take MUSC 101 and MUSC 105 or 106 in place of the major-specific courses (MUSC185 and MUSC195).
