Music - Conducting Concentration (MM)

IV. Conducting Concentration Courses:

Students are required to complete 35 credit hours (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of B or better) to be granted the degree Master of Music: Conducting. All students take the following:

• MUSC 600 - Master’s Performance in Conducting Credit(s): 2
• MUSC 603 - Chamber Music Literature Credit(s): 3
• MUSC 611 - Studies in Music History (3cr.) Credit(s): 3
• MUSC 620 - Large Ensemble Credit(s): 0-1
• MUSC 622 - Materials and Methods of Research Credit(s): 3
• MUSC 625 - Artistic Innovations I Credit(s): 2
• MUSC 630 - Chamber Ensemble Credit(s): 0-1
• MUSC 651 - Advanced Private Study: Conducting I Credit(s): 2
• MUSC 652 - Advanced Private Study: Conducting II Credit(s): 2
• MUSC 653 - Advanced Private Study: Conducting III Credit(s): 2
• MUSC 654 - Advanced Private Study: Conducting IV Credit(s): 2
• MUSC 695 - Advanced Analysis and Interpretation (3cr.) Credit(s): 3

Other Requirements:

The culmination of the degree is a public recital (MUSC 600 ), which is preceded by an acceptable recital-approval hearing. In addition, toward the end of the course of study, the student must pass an oral examination.
