Civil Engineering (MBA/MCE)

Return to Department

Requirements for the Degree:

The dual MBA/MCE program will provide students with the necessary skills to broaden their engineering knowledge while gaining a detailed understanding of the business environment. Although it does not preclude the possibility of engineering research (when the student chooses to pursue the engineering master’s degree with thesis), the dual degree can be achieved with a non-thesis master’s degree in engineering.

Structure of the program:

  • Total of 63 credits
  • The MBA core and required courses (30 credits) plus international MBA elective (3 credits) combined with the requirements for any Master’s level engineering degree (30 credits).

MBA Dual Degree

Dual Degree Requirements:

Most dual degrees generally require at least 60 graduate credits and follow a very structured curriculum.

A dual degree within Lerner College typically requires 29 credits in the MBA curriculum. This consists of 27 credits of the required Business Core, two one-credit professional development seminars: BUEC 601  and BUEC 603 . The two programs, which are exceptions to this, are the MBA/MS-Econ where students take 26 MBA credits and MBA/MS-HBM where students take 23 MBA credits.

A dual degree outside Lerner College requires 32 credits in the MBA curriculum. This consists of 27 credits of the required Business Core, one International Business elective and two one credit professional development seminars: BUEC 601  and BUEC 603 . The dual degrees outside Lerner College are the MBA/PhD in Biological Sciences and MBA/MS-Engineering.
