Admission Requirements:
Admission decisions will be based on prior education experiences, GPA, and letters of recommendation. It is generally expected that students will have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0, and will have earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field. For international applicants whose first language is not English, a TOEFL iBT score of 100 is required. Applicants will submit a personal statement and two letters of recommendation. A federal background clearance will be required in order to enroll. GRE scores are not required for admission to this program.
Procedures:
- Upon arrival at the University of Delaware, students will be matched with an advisor who must be a member of the HDFS faculty. The advisor will typically be faculty member designated as administrator of the MA program in Early Childhood Development and Programming.
- Completion of the required course work. Students will simultaneously meet requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Leadership in Early Childhood Education and Human Services by completing the coursework for the MA program.
- Placements for the Supervised Field Experience and Study course (HDFS669) will be arranged by the program coordinator of the MA program, working with the program’s faculty administrator and the HDFS Graduate Coordinator. The placements will be required for all students enrolled. Students will not be required to defend a master’s thesis or to complete a final project. The Supervised Field Experience and Study is intended as the capstone experience for this degree program.
