CHIN 614 - Advanced Chinese Pronunciation and Semantics Credit(s): 3 ADV PRONUNCIATIONS & SEMANTICS Component: Lecture Focuses on teaching and advanced learning in two areas unique to learning Chinese as a foreign language: characters and tones. Effective tone and character use are critical for developing sophisticated word knowledge, successful oral and written text comprehension, and accurate pronunciation. The purpose of the course is thus two-fold; to provide intensive training to high-intermediate and advanced learners and to prepare pre-and in-service teachers so they can teach the related areas more effectively.
