ANTH 630 - Anthropology of Development: Extractive Industry Credit(s): 1 ANTH OF EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRY Component: Discussion Provides an anthropological and critical perspective of development with special focus on the extractive industry. Commences with an overview of Sociocultural Anthropology and Anthropology of Development to then lead into case studies on the various social dimensions of the mining industry. These case studies from across the world informed by social theory will analyze the societal aspects of the extractive industry and ways to address some of them.
