MUSC 315 - The Long Baroque: 1580-1750 Credit(s): 3 THE LONG BAROQUE: 1580-1750 Component: Lecture An introduction to the analysis and interpretation of European classical music during the “Long Baroque” (c.1580-1750). Emphasis will be placed on understanding the development of theatrical music, music written for civic and religious rituals, and the relationship between music and humanism in the churches, courts, and cities of Italy, Germany, France, England, and Spain.
