ARTH 364 - Museum Careers and ARTH-Internship Preparation

MUSEUM ARTH INTERNSHIP PREP
Component: Practicum
Prepare students for ARTH internships, including an understanding of a range of careers in museums and the work required.  Students meet once a week, one to three contract hour for week depending on the credits designated for the course in that given semester.  Each meeting consists of a combination of discussion, demonstration, and practical lessons.  Sessions include: exhibition organization, checklist development, label and catalog writing; expanding the collection through acquisitions; art, specimen, and object handling; collection care, storage, conservation, and working with museum databases; designing gallery installations and online exhibitions.
