HIST 304 - Jews and Food Credit(s): 3 JEWS AND FOOD Component: Lecture This class surveys how food, kosher law, and cuisines from around the world have sustained the Jewish people for more than 3,000 years. It does so by exploring the many foods associated with Jews, as well as how kosher rules influenced the foods used in religious rituals and in daily home consumption. It will range widely over time and space, following the movement of Jews and changes in their foods from the ancient Middle East to modern America.
