PSYC 108 - Mindfulness and the Brain

MINDFULNESS AND THE BRAIN
Component: Discussion

This course will explore the intersection between mindfulness and neuroscience. Students will learn and practice mindfulness skills in and outside of class for experiential learning. Students will examine the literature on how mindfulness and mediation techniques impact brain structure and function and overall measures of well-being such stress management, concentration, and sleep quality. Students will also evaluate the effectiveness of these techniques as a complementary approach in the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders such as attention-deficit disorder, anxiety, and depression.
