JAPN 405 - Japanese Translation: Theory and Practice Credit(s): 3 JAPANESE TRANSLATION Component: Lecture Explores the major issues in translating a Japanese literary text into English, including synonym choice, literal versus loose translation, poetic license and the tense-aspect controversy. Students will find their own method of translation, balancing creative expression with accuracy and fidelity to the text.
