ELEG 482 - Optics and Photonics Credit(s): 3 OPTICS AND PHOTONICS Component: Lecture Principles of classical optics and their applications. Topics include wave optics, material dispersion, geometrical optics, ray tracing, ABCD matrices, birefringence and Jones’ formalism, Gaussian optics, coherence, interference, diffraction, pulse propagation and non-linear optics. Specific applications including optical components and instrumentation, imaging techniques, resonators and Fourier optics.
