JWST 349 - Introduction to Jewish Sources: Text and Interpretation Credit(s): 3 INTRODUCTION TO JEWISH SOURCES Component: Lecture Examines the central texts which form the basis of Jewish thought, religion and culture–the Torah, or Hebrew Bible (in translation) and the interpretive traditions which have evolved to understand it (e.g., Midrash, Rashi, contemporary theology) as sources of uniquely Jewish meanings.
