ARTH 243 - Design and the Decorative Arts Credit(s): 3 DESIGN AND THE DECORATIVE ARTS Component: Lecture Introduction to the design histories and decorative arts of American and European cultures from the 18th century to the present. Examines the historical emergence of design styles (from Chippendale to modern) and forms (such as furniture, ceramics, and craft) while exploring histories of production, consumption, and circulation through global trade and cultural networks.
