POSC 437 - Race Class and American Democracy (3cr.)Credit(s): 3 RACE CLASS & AMERICAN DEMOCRAC Component: Lecture Explores theoretical/historical intersection of race class & democracy in U. S. Focuses on a number of distinct historical eras (American Founding; Reconstruction, etc), movements by Ferguson and New Jim Crow, and political competition over legacy and continued legitimacy of major policy developments since Progressive era re: race and class. Close study of eras will reveal refinements/evolution over time and provide practical basis for assessing competing theoretical frameworks.
