SOCIOLOGY OF THE BODY
Component: Lecture
Examines the body, not through the lens of the biological sciences, but as the product of complex social arrangements and processes. Considers: What is ‘natural’ about bodies? How are bodies commodified? How are bodies categorized and constituted by discourses of race, class, gender, sexuality, and biomedicine?
